Attend
03-06 Dec 2026 / TBarM Resort, New Braunfels TX
The workshop is capped at roughly 60 people: working trainers, tactical practitioners, and training-science researchers. If you train law enforcement or tactical professionals, or study how that training works, this room is for you.
What it costs
Attending costs $695, which covers your room and board at TBarM Resort for three nights (December 3, 4, and 5) plus all meals from dinner on December 3 through breakfast on December 6. Travel to and from New Braunfels is on you.
Selected presenters attend at no cost: conference fee waived, room and board covered, and travel arranged and paid by the workshop. One presenter per session is covered; co-presenters are welcome at their own cost.
How to register
To register, email Sarah E. Drennan at sd33@txstate.edu with your name, agency or affiliation, and contact information.
Seats are limited and the room fills with a mix of roles on purpose, so register early.
The venue
TBarM Resort sits on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, Texas, between San Antonio and Austin in the Hill Country. Sessions, meals, and lodging are all on site, which is part of the design: the conversations that start on the mat keep going at dinner.
A few practical notes:
- No live-fire range. Demonstrations use sims, scenarios, and mat work.
- Airports. San Antonio International (SAT) and Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) are both within about an hour’s drive. Rental car or rideshare from either works.
- Weather. Early December in the Hill Country is usually mild, roughly 40s to 60s Fahrenheit, but pack a layer for cool mornings.
The rhythm of the week
Arrive Thursday December 3 in time for dinner. Friday and Saturday are full session days, everyone in the same room. Sunday morning is breakfast, an informal wrap-up, and checkout. See the schedule for the day-by-day outline.
